UON Games Art students recreate the Engine Shed

When the University of Northampton and the Students’ Union took on the Engine Shed, it was always felt that we could use the wonderful heritage of the building to offer students interesting and worthwhile learning experiences.

One such opportunity came from our desire to create a 3D computer model of the Engine Shed which could give our visitors some sense of what the Engine Shed was like in it’s heyday as a steam shed.

With expert guidance from lecturer Daniel McCaul, Students from the BA Games Art course Ryan Gaveglia and Fiona Galloway helped to create an accurate recreation of what the shed was like just before it closed to trains in 1924.

The film now plays on a loop inside the Engine Shed to help show visitors what the Engine Shed used to look like.
